The New York Jets will determine on Wednesday whether their top wide receiver can play against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Garrett Wilson is currently on concussion protocol after sustaining a head injury during the team's 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Head coach Aaron Glenn designated Wilson as day-to-day, meaning his status for the weekend road game remains uncertain. Wilson was hit while making a catch on the Jets' second-to-last play. Las Vegas safety Jeremy Chinn was penalized for unnecessary roughness, but Wilson stayed on the field for the final Hail Mary attempt. Glenn noted that Wilson reported to the facility on Monday with lingering symptoms.

The Jets have a potential return in the backfield. Running back Breece Hall is expected to return to the lineup after missing five games with a quadriceps injury. Glenn said Hall is trending in the right direction and has practiced on a limited basis for the past two weeks. The team took a cautious approach to his rehabilitation to avoid further damage. Hall signed a three-year contract worth $43.5 million during the offseason. Trade rumors have circulated, but Glenn dismissed them on Monday, stating that Hall is one of their better players and will remain with the Jets. Glenn added that both Hall and current starter Braelon Allen would see time on the field, though he did not specify how the workload would be split.

Braelon Allen has stepped up in Hall's absence. Since starting five games, Allen has rushed for 504 yards and averages 5.0 yards per carry. He is second in the NFL for rushing yards over that span, behind only Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving, who has 548 yards.

Wilson leads the Jets in receptions with 43 and receiving yards with 527. He has also scored three touchdowns. If he sits, the team has depth at the position. Adonai Mitchell recorded a career-high 147 yards in the previous week. Rookie Omar Cooper Jr. has already posted two 100-yard receiving games this season.

The Jets may also get help on the defensive line. Rookie David Bailey, who leads the team with 5.5 sacks, is likely to play after missing one game with a groin injury. Edge rusher Joseph Ossai, who has been out for the last three games with an ankle injury, is also poised to return to the active roster.
