Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby is expected to stay with the team for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Last year, Crosby publicly questioned his future in Las Vegas, which made him a target for other NFL franchises. That scenario has not repeated itself this year. League sources told ESPN that the Raiders have no current plans to trade the player. No teams have initiated discussions with Las Vegas regarding Crosby in the 2026 campaign.
The Raiders acquired Crosby in the offseason from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round draft picks. The deal initially fell apart because Crosby failed his physical in Baltimore, but the trade was later completed. He has since become a central figure in the Raiders defense. One source familiar with the situation said this weekend that Crosby does not want to leave Las Vegas. The source added that Crosby hopes to remain a Raider for life, though that outcome is not entirely within his control.
The Raiders are 3-4 entering their Week 8 game against the New York Jets in New Jersey on Sunday. They aim to reach a .500 record in November for the first time since 2020. The team relies heavily on Crosby to pressure opposing quarterbacks and help stabilize their defense.
The Raiders also plan to keep Kirk Cousins at starting quarterback. Cousins leads the league with 16 touchdown passes and is third in passing yards with 1,817. He has thrown only five interceptions in seven games. Sources indicate the team believes Cousins is not responsible for the Raiders recent drop from a 3-0 start.
The Raiders face a difficult stretch after Sunday. They will play at San Francisco, host Seattle, visit Denver, and travel to Cleveland before their Week 13 bye. Following the bye, they have three consecutive home games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver, and Tennessee. The post-bye schedule could be a window for first overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza to take over, but the preferred outcome for the Raiders is for Cousins to finish the season as the starter.
