Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley participated in team practice on Thursday. The move puts him on track to play Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Barkley has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury.
Barkley sustained the injury during the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Before going down, he rushed for 182 yards on 36 carries. He did not score a touchdown in that game.
The Eagles have struggled to move the ball on the ground without him. The team has gained just 57 rushing yards over its past two games. Other running backs on the roster, including Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley, have also been unavailable due to injuries.
Both the Eagles and the Cowboys enter the NFC East matchup with records of 2-4. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also out for this game. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee is expected to lead the offense. Philadelphia has looked to revive its offensive play in Barkley's absence.
The Eagles will take the field against Dallas on Monday night. Barkley's return provides the team with a more dependable rushing option. The game serves as a key test for an offense that has been short-handed recently.
