The Cleveland Cavaliers are favored by 5.5 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Monday night matchup at Rocket Arena. The over and under for the contest is set at 231.5, though a predictive model from SportsLine projects the teams will combine for 236 points. That projection suggests the over will hit in 56% of simulated scenarios.
The Timberwolves enter the game with a 3-0 record, having beaten the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday. They are 2-0 on the road this season. The Cavaliers sit at 1-1 after a 125-121 victory over Brooklyn on Saturday. Cleveland holds a 1-0 home record in the 2026-27 season.
The two teams met four times in recent seasons, with the over hitting in every instance. The over has also appeared in five of Minnesota's last eight games and seven of Cleveland's last ten. This pattern supports the model's lean toward a high-scoring affair.
Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves' leading scorer, is listed as questionable due to knee injury management. In his three starts this season, Edwards averages 28.7 points, five rebounds, 3.3 assists, and two steals per game. Six other players on Minnesota average at least 12 points.
Donovan Mitchell leads the Cavaliers offensively. In two starts, he has averaged 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block while playing 35.5 minutes per night. The model also indicates that one side of the point spread hits over 60% of the time in its simulations, though the specific side is available through the SportsLine platform.
The SportsLine Projection Model has returned nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on top-rated NBA picks since 2018. It is currently on a 26-10 record for top-rated spread picks dating back to the previous season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Monday.
