Luka Doncic’s technical foul from Monday’s game against the Miami Heat was erased Tuesday night after the league ruled in his favor. The ruling brings his season total back down to one, a minor adjustment for a player who earned 16 technicals last season and missed one game due to a suspension. The administrative fix stands in contrast to the overwhelming statistical surge that has defined his start to the 2026-27 campaign.

Through seven games, the 27-year-old guard leads the NBA in player-impact estimate with a rating of 22.1. He also tops the league in usage rate at 39%. Among players averaging at least 30 minutes, Doncic holds the best offensive rating at 133.5. His net rating places him third, trailing only Alperen Sengun of the Houston Rockets and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The numbers reflect a scoring run that has left teammates stunned. Since his first two games of the season, when he scored fewer than 30 points in each, Doncic has averaged 43.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 2.0 steals. He is shooting 53.2% from the field and 44.7% from three-point range. On Monday, he scored 42 points in a 138-117 victory over Miami, marking his fourth game of at least 40 points in his last five appearances.

Lakers forward Ziaire Williams said he often wonders why opponents do not double-team their star guard more aggressively. Williams noted that teams appear to be trying to halt Doncic but are not succeeding. “He just is that good and he just makes it look that easy,” Williams said. “He’s unbelievable, man. Even a better person. I’m happy to be on his side for sure.”

Guard Quentin Grimes described the surreal experience of watching Doncic’s shots fall from any angle. Grimes said it feels as if everything the Slovenian star shoots is going in. “It’s kind of one of the surreal things that I don’t think I’ve ever been on the court when everything somebody shoots, you think it’s going in,” Grimes said.

Doncic cited a Grade 2 left hamstring strain that ended his previous season and kept him out of competitive action for more than six months. He said he is still working to find his rhythm. “I’m just trying to find that rhythm and it’s getting better,” he said Sunday after a win over the Toronto Raptors. Guard Jaden Hardy, who played with Doncic in Dallas, called the star a spectacular talent who does things other people cannot.

The Lakers enter Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a 6-2 record. They rank second in points per game at 122.5, first in field-goal percentage at 52%, and first in offensive rating at 121.9. Austin Reaves averages 23.6 points, while Walker Kessler contributes 14.4 points as the team benefits from open looks created by Doncic’s presence.
