Kid Rock challenged Bill Maher’s account of a recent White House dinner, asserting that the comedian appeared intoxicated despite Maher's insistence that he was sober.

President Donald Trump previously criticized Maher on Truth Social for allegedly walking around the residence with alcohol in hand. The Oct. 25 post described the host of HBO's "Real Time" as a "SLEAZEBAG" and a "pothead." Trump also claimed Maher was "very nervous" and "very insecure" at the event, which he said lasted two hours.

Maher addressed the controversy during a recent episode of his show. He disputed the allegation that he opposed the war in Iran, arguing that video footage proves he supported the president's intervention. He stated, "I do think he fucked up the execution of it. Why did he write that I was against it when I can show the tape there?"

Maher denied being drunk, telling the audience, "I was not drunk. Okay, I was not noticeably drunk." Kid Rock, who attended the dinner alongside Maher and ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, interjected to contradict this assessment. The musician, born Robert James Ritchie, told Maher, "You were pretty high! Were you not pretty high?"

Maher replied, "We have a good time," a sentiment Kid Rock confirmed. The exchange revealed a discrepancy regarding the length of the gathering. Maher noted that Trump claimed the dinner lasted two hours, while the actual duration was four. He asked Kid Rock to verify the timeline, and the musician confirmed he had to leave early but acknowledged the four-hour figure.

Kid Rock suggested the president might have been referring to just the dinner portion rather than the entire event. Maher accepted the correction and concluded the discussion by asking, "Okay, it doesn't matter. Why can't anyone take a joke?"
