Michael Penix Jr. threw for 441 passing yards in Week 1 before suffering a 0-61 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

The Falcons quarterback described the performance as the worst of his NFL career. He spent Sunday evening on a plane, Monday watching film, and Tuesday in the weight room before returning to the practice facility on Wednesday. Head coach Raheem Morris stated the staff did not want the team to dwell on the result, noting that the focus is on the next game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Penix acknowledged the difficulty of reviewing the tape but emphasized the need for correction. "It was hard to watch it, but at the same time, that’s what comes with it," Penix said. "You still got to look at it.. but you got to correct some things that need to be corrected." He added that the team moved on to preparing for Cincinnati after the review process.

The offense faced specific challenges during the loss. Penix noted that he could not complete the plays he wanted to throw. "I didn't feel like I was able to complete some of the plays I wanted to throw," he said. "But I was able to get some of the plays in that I did want to throw." He credited the team for keeping a level head despite the score.

Offensive coordinator Raheem Morris said the coaching staff wants the players to treat the loss as a business matter. "We put ourselves in that position," Morris said. "It’s not like we’re going to take it personal. We’re going to take it as a business and move on." He emphasized that the team must look at the film and make adjustments.

The Falcons practice on Thursday at the team facility in Atlanta. The team will continue its preparation for the game against the Bengals. Penix said he is ready to play and does not expect the team to be rattled by the previous week's performance. "I’m ready," he said. "I’m good. I’m fine. I’m ready to go."
