The Chicago Bears designated running back Zavier Scott for injured reserve on Thursday, citing a thumb injury. The move marks the second consecutive day the franchise placed a player on the long-term list. Scott joins fellow running back Kentavius Street, who is recovering from a knee injury, leaving the team with fewer options in the backfield.
Backfield uncertainty persists as running back Kyle Monangai did not participate in Thursday's practice at Halas Hall. Monangai has missed the previous four games due to thumb and toe ailments. His absence from the field suggests he may be unavailable for the upcoming game.
The Bears received positive updates on two starters. Offensive lineman Theo Benedet was upgraded to a limited participant while managing a shoulder issue. Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who is dealing with a groin injury, also practiced in a limited capacity.
Defensive back Malik Muhammad was limited for the second straight day due to a toe injury. Muhammad missed Monday's contest against the Seattle Seahawks. Linebacker D'Marco Jackson was added to the injury report after missing Thursday's session with an ankle problem.
Offensive lineman Joe Thuney received a veteran's day off, while linebacker TJ Edwards returned to the field after missing Wednesday's workout for personal reasons. The team aims to improve its record to 7-2 when it hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Soldier Field.
