Downtown Noblesville Drivers Face Two-Day Road Shutdown for Election Gear
Construction at the Judicial Center forces a detour around 8th Street on Oct. 31 and Nov. 3 as workers move voting equipment.

Drivers in downtown Noblesville will face two separate road closures this week as election workers transport voting equipment to and from the Hamilton County Judicial Center. The shutdowns affect a block of 8th Street and require local traffic to use alternate routes during specific evening and morning windows.
The need for these closures stems from ongoing construction on the west side of the Judicial Center. Builders have removed the building's former sally port, the secure loading area that election staff typically use to access the facility. Without that direct access point, workers must now use the public street to move heavy ballot boxes and machines.
The first closure occurs on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this eight-hour window, 8th Street between Logan and Conner streets will be blocked while staff pick up voting equipment. A second closure is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This three-hour shutdown will allow workers to return results and equipment after polls close.
County officials advise motorists to avoid the area during these times. For voters casting ballots at the Judicial Center, parking may be more difficult than usual. Two public parking garages are located just north and south of the building. Additional spaces are available in public lots near the downtown square.
The closures are a temporary logistical adjustment to keep election operations running smoothly while the construction site remains active. No other streets in the immediate vicinity are scheduled for closure during these specific time slots.
