Minnesota voters have a few days left to decide who will lead the state. On Thursday, Oct. 29, Republican candidates Michele Tafoya and Lisa Demuth made separate stops in Moorhead.

Lisa Demuth, the current House Speaker, concluded her northern tour in Clay County. She and running mate Ryan Wilson addressed supporters at the Minnesota GOP office. Their agenda centers on cleaning up fraud, reforming education, and lowering vehicle tabs. Demuth argued that reducing tab costs would allow residents to keep more of their income. She said the state could then reinvest those savings into infrastructure without raising taxes on existing residents.

Michele Tafoya visited DS Beverages an hour before Demuth arrived. She met with business leaders to discuss how the state can support their operations. Tafoya said she wants to remove duplicative regulatory rules. She believes this will give businesses more freedom to expand. Her platform also includes scaling back tariffs and fixing state fraud issues. Tafoya noted that the campaign is operating with confidence as election day approaches.

Demuth faces Sen. Amy Klobuchar in the race for governor. Tafoya is running against Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for the U.S. Senate seat. Both candidates emphasized the importance of every vote in this election. Demuth said the state needs to connect with voters across all regions to ensure participation.

The Minnesota DFL is running its own Get Out the Vote bus tour. The party will stop in Moorhead, Fergus Falls, and Mahnomen on Saturday, Oct. 31. This final weekend of campaigning brings both parties into close contact with voters in the area.
