Five Aurora high schools enter the 2026 Class 5A girls volleyball regional round as underdogs, facing higher-ranked opponents in single-elimination style brackets. The Colorado High School Activities Association released the schedules on Monday, confirming that all twelve regional tournaments will conclude by Nov. 7.
The regional structure consists of twelve three-team events. Each site hosts a round-robin schedule where every team plays the other two. The winner of each regional bracket advances directly to the state tournament, which is scheduled for Nov. 12 through 14 at the Denver Coliseum.
Aurora programs are distributed across five of the twelve regions. Regis Jesuit, ranked No. 12 with a 15-7 record, hosts its regional at its own gym. The team will face No. 25 Doherty and No. 13 Castle View. Doherty plays Regis Jesuit at 10 a.m., followed immediately by matches against Castle View.
In Region 1, held at No. 1 Legend High School, No. 36 Eaglecrest enters with a 7-16 record. The team plays No. 1 Legend at 10 a.m. and No. 24 Denver East immediately following. Legend holds the top seed with a 19-4 record, while Denver East is 15-8.
Region 3 takes place at No. 3 Mountain Vista High School. No. 34 Vista Peak Prep, with a 13-10 record, opens against the No. 3 seed at 10 a.m. No. 22 Grandview, also 13-10, plays Vista Peak Prep immediately after and then faces Mountain Vista. Mountain Vista holds a 19-4 record.
Region 8 is hosted by No. 8 Arvada West High School. No. 17 Cherokee Trail, with a 15-8 record, plays No. 29 ThunderRidge at 10 a.m. Cherokee Trail then faces Arvada West, which holds a 19-4 record. ThunderRidge is 11-12.
The remaining seven regions do not include Aurora teams. Region 2 at Valor Christian features No. 2 Valor Christian, No. 23 Denver South, and No. 35 Fort Collins. Region 4 at Chaparral High School has not set a specific time, but features No. 4 Chaparral, No. 33 Westminster, and No. 21 Northfield.
Other sites include Fossil Ridge, Lutheran, Rocky Mountain, Cherry Creek, Heritage, and Rock Canyon High Schools. Three of these regions, including the one at Cherry Creek, have tentative dates or times listed as TBA in the association's release. All other regions start play at 10 a.m. on Nov. 7.
The brackets determine the path for all participating teams. Only the team that wins its specific regional bracket advances. The state tournament in Denver will feature the twelve regional champions, creating a single-elimination bracket for the final weekend of the season.
