Saquon Barkley told reporters on Sunday that he intends to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, pushing back against speculation that he may seek a trade. The running back made the comments after a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland.

“I would love to be here,” Barkley said. “I plan on being here. I don’t like the way the season is going, but I am not one of those guys that wants to jump ship. That’s not the type of person you want to have, and that’s not the person I am. I’d rather be a part of a solution to the problem and hopefully be a reason we fix it.”

The Eagles sit in last place in the NFC East with a 2-6 record. One game remains before the league's trade deadline on Nov. 10, and the team hosts the New York Giants next Sunday. Injuries to the roster, including to quarterback Jalen Hurts, have complicated the season and fueled questions about the roster's future.

Barkley played a reduced role against Washington due to hamstring and back issues. He recorded 14 touches for 54 rushing yards and one touchdown. In his third season with Philadelphia, he has rushed for 274 yards on 56 carries for an average of 4.9 yards per attempt. He has also caught seven passes for 41 yards.

Trade discussions gained momentum after the Eagles sent offensive lineman Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two draft picks. The move opened the door for further roster transactions, but Barkley indicated he wants to help turn the team around from the inside.
