Georgia election officials reported a new state record for midterm early in-person voting on Thursday. The total surpassed the previous benchmark established during the 2022 election cycle.

According to data from the secretary of state’s office, 2,294,275 voters had cast ballots in person by 1:35 p.m. on Thursday. This figure exceeds the 2,289,951 early in-person votes recorded in 2022. Advance in-person voting concludes statewide on Friday.

The state is also approaching its record for total early turnout, which includes mail-in absentee ballots. That previous total stood at 2.5 million votes from four years ago. More than 30% of the state's 7.5 million active registered voters have already participated in the election.

Demographic data released on Thursday shows a gender split in early voting behavior. Women accounted for 56% of the early ballots, while men accounted for 44%. Among racial and ethnic groups, white voters represented approximately 50% of the turnout. Black voters comprised roughly 30%, Hispanic voters about 3%, and Asian voters 2%.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger attributed the high participation levels to local election officials and sustained voter confidence. The state crossed the 2 million in-person early vote threshold earlier this week. The final tally will include ballots cast through Friday and mail-in submissions due by the election deadline.
