Cornell Young IV and his twin brother created a viral moment this Halloween by dressing as Smoke and Stack, the twin characters from the film 'Sinners.' The pair’s coordinated appearance drew immediate attention on social media, where fans reacted to the visual homage to the movie's popular duo.
The costume selection aligns with a commercial trend. Spirit Halloween released an officially licensed 'Sinners' costume line for the current season, a move driven by the popularity of Michael B. Jordan's portrayal of the characters. For Young, who is 26 years old, the choice leveraged a current cultural reference to reinforce his public image.
This visibility arrives during a period of increased professional momentum for the actor. He stars as Shaquille 'Five Star' Johnson in the Netflix reboot of 'A Different World,' which premiered on September 24. The series reached number one on the platform's charts and has already received a renewal for a second season. Additionally, Young appeared in Tyler Perry's film 'Doing Life,' which debuted globally last month.
The Halloween event followed a recent appearance on the podcast 'The Shop,' where Young discussed his personal preferences. He stated that he prefers dating older women, attributing this preference to his upbringing around grandparents and great-aunts. He explained that these older relatives taught him the importance of conversation and communication.
'We speak, we use words. You express yourself a certain type of way,' Young said during the interview. He added that he finds a disconnect with women his own age or younger, describing the current generation as fixated on various trends. He emphasized a desire for mature interaction and real-life activities.
Reactions to these comments were swift online. According to TheShadeRoom, many women responded by expressing interest in dating Young. His co-star Darryl M. Bell joked on the show that the 'aunties' would be eager for an opportunity. Young also recalled a heartbreak at age 11, which he said did not alter his type.
Speculation regarding a romance between Young and co-star Maleah Joi Moon continues to circulate. The pair were seen together at a watch party in St. Louis, but both have maintained that their bond is professional and friendly. When asked if he was single, Young reportedly laughed and replied, 'I love my work.'
